Atomica Arts workshops are not lectures. They are lived experiences designed to engage the whole person through movement, storytelling, improvisation, mindfulness, embodiment, and reflection. Every workshop is customized to your group, your goals, and your context, and can be facilitated in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Whether you’re working with students, educators, healthcare professionals, corporate teams, social activists, or community members, there is a workshop for you.

Atomica Arts also offers intimate in-person Atomica Labs near downtown Sarasota. These small-group experiences explore attention, creativity, storytelling, wellbeing, mindfulness, and embodied practice in a more personal and ongoing community setting.

CATEGORY 1: Theater & Applied Improvisation

Free Your Mind

A series of experiential and self-reflective exercises inspired by the Rainbow of Desire technique created by Brazilian activist and director Augusto Boal. Participants learn to identify and transform the internal voices that block them from achieving their goals — gaining greater insight and clarity into their own personal stories while finding the motivation to break cycles and create meaningful change. No theater experience necessary.

Theater for Healing

Developed by Brazilian theater director and activist Augusto Boal, the Rainbow of Desire is a powerful set of techniques that brings Theater of the Oppressed into the realm of the personal and psychological. Through embodied exercises and guided reflection, participants externalize their inner conflicts — giving voice to the internalized oppressions, fears, and contradictions that live within us — and explore ways to transform them. This workshop is particularly powerful for trauma survivors, helping professionals, educators, and anyone doing deep personal work. No theater experience necessary.

Theater for Dialogue: How to Derail Real Life Tragedies with Imagination

Developed by Augusto Boal as a tool for community dialogue and social change, Forum Theater turns the audience into active participants — “spect-actors” who can stop a scene, replace a character, and try out different solutions to a shared problem. This workshop introduces participants to the principles and practice of Forum Theater — creating scenes from real life situations, exploring power dynamics, and rehearsing responses to oppression, conflict, and injustice. Highly adaptable for educators, community organizers, social workers, activists, and anyone interested in using theater as a tool for dialogue and transformation. No theater experience necessary.

Becoming Picasso

A series of drama and meditation exercises inspired by Boal, Stanislavski, and the Yoga Sutras — designed to explore the thoughts that think they are facts and that most influence our behaviors. Participants practice being in the present moment, breaking habitual cycles of thinking, and stepping into the vast space of infinite possibilities. No theater or meditation experience necessary.

Improv for Leadership

The best leaders are not the ones with all the answers — they are the ones who know how to listen, adapt, and bring out the best in the people around them. Applied improvisation offers a surprisingly powerful training ground for exactly these skills. In this dynamic workshop, leaders and emerging leaders explore the core principles of improv — Yes, And, active listening, spontaneous problem-solving, and ensemble thinking — and discover how these tools translate directly into more effective, authentic, and human leadership. Through games, scenes, and guided reflection, participants practice leading with presence, recovering gracefully from mistakes, and creating the conditions for their teams to thrive. No theater experience necessary — but a willingness to play is required.

Ideal for corporate teams, nonprofit leaders, educators, and anyone in a leadership or management role.

CATEGORY 2: Mindfulness & Meditation

Meditation 101

Meditation offers wonderful benefits — but it can be overwhelming to choose a style. This workshop focuses on developing a personal meditation self-assessment and exploring different styles, including guided meditation, loving-kindness, mindfulness, mantra, and breathing meditation. Enrich your life by finding a style that resonates with you.

Mindfulness Through the Senses

A unique and deeply accessible meditation experience that uses the five senses as gateways into present moment awareness. Rather than asking participants to “clear their mind” — often the biggest barrier for beginners — this workshop invites them to simply notice what they can see, hear, feel, smell, and taste right now. The result is a surprisingly immediate and powerful experience of stillness that works beautifully with children, healthcare professionals, educators, corporate teams, and community members of all backgrounds. No meditation experience necessary.

The Body, the Breath & the Nervous System

An integrative workshop exploring the profound relationship between meditation, breathwork, the chakra system, and nervous system regulation. Participants learn how stress lives in the body — in posture, breath, and subtle physical patterns — and discover practical tools to shift out of fight-or-flight and into a state of genuine calm and presence. Drawing from Vedic wisdom, modern neuroscience, and embodied awareness practices, this workshop bridges ancient knowledge and contemporary science in a way that is immediately applicable to daily life.

Primordial Sound Meditation

A time-tested meditation technique dating back thousands of years to the Vedic traditions of India, taught by certified Vedic Meditation teacher Maria Schaedler-Luera. This course is taught in four sessions:

Session One: The basic principles of meditation, its history, and the importance of your personal mantra. Session Two: Personal instruction in your Primordial Sound mantra and your first meditation practice using it. Session Three: The healing benefits meditation creates for mind and body — with space to share experiences and ask questions. Session Four: An exploration of the higher states of consciousness achievable through regular practice.

Recommended for anyone who wishes to enjoy deeper peace, greater freedom, and mastery of life.

The Science & Soul of Mantra Meditation

Sound has been used as a tool for transformation for thousands of years — and modern neuroscience is now confirming what the Vedic tradition has always known. This workshop explores the history, philosophy, and science of mantra-based meditation — how specific sounds and vibrations affect the nervous system, the brain, and overall wellbeing — and guides participants through their first mantra meditation experience. Rooted in the Vedic tradition and taught through the Gaja framework, this is an introduction to one of the world’s most ancient and effective meditation practices.

CATEGORY 3: Ayurveda & Wellness

Ayurvedic Lifestyle

Discover one of the world’s oldest and most powerful mind-body health systems. Learn how the wisdom of Ayurveda — the science of life — can help you stay vibrant and healthy while realizing your full human potential. Participants learn the fundamentals of Ayurveda and develop their own personalized self-care routine based on simple, effective principles.

Ayurveda & the Stressed Mind-Body — Finding Your Way Back to Balance

Stress is not just a feeling — it is a physiological event that affects every system in the body. Ayurveda has understood this for thousands of years, offering a remarkably precise framework for identifying how stress manifests differently in each person — and what each unique mind-body type needs to return to balance.

In this workshop participants explore the Ayurvedic understanding of stress through the lens of the three doshas — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha — discovering how their unique constitution shapes the way they respond to pressure, overwhelm, and change. Through guided self-assessment, breathing practices, and simple daily rituals drawn from Ayurvedic wisdom, participants leave with a personalized stress management toolkit rooted in one of the world’s oldest and most effective healing traditions.

Topics include:

  • Understanding your unique mind-body constitution (dosha)
  • How stress manifests differently for each dosha
  • Ayurvedic breathing and grounding practices
  • Daily rhythms and routines (dinacharya) that support resilience
  • Food, sleep, and movement as stress management tools
  • Simple, sustainable practices for nervous system regulation
